Bentonite Clay When Cleansing?
What about bentonite/phyllium detox shakes?? I eat plenty of fiber and drink a lot of water, do I need the clay? On that note, what about Senna? They are recommending this tea along with the shakes. Is this addictive? I know it’s strong, and I don’t want to mess with adictive substances…Am I wondering to much about my colon?
I saw your post about senna, and had to reply. Very potent herb, very strong, and yes, it can be addictive. Most laxatives are…you body becomes dependant on them. I work for a digestive care company, and this is something that we deal with on a daily basis. Trying to help people who have been down that road, and want to regain bowel regularity.
There are many much safer products out there to move your bowels. The safest bet from a holistic perspective is to stimulate your bile flow…liver herbs will help move the bile which is a natural laxative…that is why if your system is working right, after you eat a meal, you will imediatly have the desire to eliminate. (presence of dietary fats.) This is contraindicated in some cases, but ask a practitioner, it is much safer than using stimulant laxatives.
The holistic manor of treating constipation is by stimulating the liver & bowel function, restoring the gut ecology, taking fiber, (feeds the good flora and provides bulk,) and lubricating and hydration. (water and Essential fatty acids)
Senna can also cause: gripping, cramping, dehydration, staining of colon causing false negatives in a colon cancer check from your doctor, etc.
This is not to say that all herbal laxatives are bad, it is just that that one is particularly dangerous.
My company makes several products, one of which uses magnesium hydroxide. This is known to be used as a safe effective mineral flush which makes water in the stomach, and holds water in the bowel creating bulk and softening stool. The ingredient by itself is safe enough for pregnant moms. (–It is in the original Milk of Magnesia.) There are many other bowel herbs in our products, but no senna. That is because of the dangers it brings with it.
Hope that helps.

If you want a really informative read, all about how using the Bentonite and psyllium shakes and colon hydrotherapy can work, look for Bernard Jenson’s “Tissue Cleansing thru Bowel Management.” It is a rather graphic book, but outstanding in terms of how to approach such cleansing as a layperson.
You can also find a big section on this topic on curezone.com. Just do a search on that site and you will find PLENTY of advice. There are forums and articles, as well as pictures…
