Day 3
Ah…slept till 10:45 this morning. Felt wonderful!
Now I am feeling detox…I know because I start to ’sigh’. This is something I tend to do when I am overly tired, or my stress is increased, or I am just detoxing from fasting. If I don’t have enough calories to support myself, it also happens, so I have two choices, either stop with the computer and TV and reading, (it does take energy to think!) or take in more juice. I thought I was resting enough, but the signing is a sign I’m not. My TCM always tells me it’s time to take my herbs when I feel this, so I will call her about an apt for monday. It will be nice to have her opinion on what is going on, plus the results of my hormone profile are due to arrive. I’ve also had my DH pick up some fruit for me to put in my juicer. I’m planning to make a spinach, strawberry and mango juice with some mint. Sounds yummy, and will definately pack in more calories than the master cleanse drink for me. I like mixing fruit with lettuce too.
The question was raised whether a one a day fast would be sufficient, and is it something that can be done with little preparation. Yes, even one day can be effective, according to Paul Bragg’s Miracle of Fasting. He suggests one day per week water fasting, as a way of letting your systems regenerate. In terms of short term one day fasting, Bragg seems to believe you can do such with little prep. The section in his book talking about newbies does suggest eating fresh foods the day before, but he says you can fast from lunch time to lunch time, or dinner to dinner, the main thing being to not partake in food for 24 hours. I used to be very diciplined about this, these days I’ve fallen out of the weekly habit.
In his book, longer fasts are encouraged 4 times a year with the seasons. He wrote a lot about using longer juicing fasts, especially for newbies to this lifestyle. Because when you just take in water, like I shared before, it is very important to get full physiological rest. Bragg and others suggest that during that time you do NOTHING. Not even read, not even watch TV or listen to radio. Just sit and quiet yourself. He talks a lot about going out into nature and just being there. When I did my very first 10 day fast, I did the master cleanse fast, and I spent each day lazing in the sunshine. (I was living on an island, and it was the best environment because I also took time everyday to walk barefoot and feel the soil below my feet and be thankful for what I was offered in the world.)
Anyway, I’m in a quandry as I have an event I really want to attend this evening, but I’m warry that the virus might be contagious and there will be a lot of elderly people there and I don’t want them to catch this cold. I’m thinking I”m past the contagious stage, but then again, I just sneezed, which means I may be wrong. I’ll probably stay home. I think my DH is coming down with this virus now, so between us, what a pair!
No tonsil pain this morning, although I can still feel my lower throat, if that makes sense. I’m continuing with the colloidal silver spray, I think it’s working.
Time for some juice.
