Like many of you, I struggled to find the pathway to wellness. I got a good start in life, actually, as I grew up in a vegetarian household where sprouts and seeds were commonplace. In fact, in 2nd grade I missed several answers on a test because I didn't know that beef came from a cow! But, like most kids today, I wanted to fit in with my friends. Why did I have to eat the peanut butter and banana sandwiches, when everyone else had chips and cookies? So by the time I hit junior high, my diet was a downhill slope to junkville.Poor food choices lead to mood swings, and emotional issues led to food issues. By the time I was in college I'd gained the freshman 15 plus ten. I'd lost touch with the healthy lessons I'd been given as a child and my health suffered. From allergies to anxiety, breakouts to lethargy, you name it, I suffered from it. Over the years I'd tried everthing from prescription medications to chiropractic to help me feel better. Finally, in my mid twenties a holistic practitioner managed to convince me that my diet & hormonal balance was dragging me down, making me ill.
She was right! Simple changes helped me begin to feel much better. In 1999 I moved to a tropical climate where free time for relaxation, sunshine and whole foods was easy to find. In 2003 I discovered the healing benefits of a raw food diet, which I used in conjunction with a regime of cleansing and detoxification to finally eliminate my symptoms of poor health.
The healthier I got, the more energy I had, and the more I wanted to share my story. I eventually found work in the natural products industry & the rest is history. It's now ten years later and I'm a nutritional consultant working as a manager & natural health educator for one of America's leading supplement companies!
